Definition of Service Management
There are several parts of economy.These parts are business,trade,production,service,import,export and so on.Among all service is also an important part of economy that generates employment and satisfied billion of people so service marketing is very important in 21st century.
Any activity or performance that one party can offer to another that is essentially intangible and does not result in the ownership of anything .
In other words we can say that a service is an act, deed ,performance or rendering offer to one person to another.
The American Marketing Association defines service in 1960 "Activities,benefits and satisfaction which are offered for sale or are provided in connection with the sale of goods.''
Example -Srevices are action such as provide education ,haircuts,medical check-up,car repair and any other maintenance work etc.
Service constitute a very significant portion of the business market.There has been an enormous growth of the services sector.It is the largest sector in the most of the economies and it is the fastest growing sector in many of them .Therefor services such as demonstration ,door delivery installation etc.
According to Philip Kotler in 1984 -''Any activity or benefit that one party can offer to another that is essentially intangible and does not result in the ownership of any thing.''
According to Christian Gronross in 1990 -''Aservice is an activity or services of activities more or less intangible nature that normally,not necessarily take place in interaction between the customer and services employees and or systems of the services provider which are provided as solution to customer problems.
